Massive Four Tier Beer Garden In A London Pub Named ‘The Best In The City’…

MyLondon

Written By Madeline Mussen

The Faltering Fullback in Finsbury Park has a beer garden like a maze you can't wait to get lost in.

We know the difference between a 6.5/10 table placement and a 9/10, that you need place yourself near a heater but not so close you're the one tending the button pushing.

And how English weather means you must make sure you get a table with a covering if you literally have to physically fight someone for it.

But there is one place in London which can cater to basically all of these needs, and it has the added benefit of being on multiple different levels.

No, not a two tier pub garden - I'm talking about a four tier pub garden. Yes ladies and gents, it's The Faltering Fullback in Finsbury Park.

Oh, and did I mention it has been voted one of the best pubs in London multiple times? This doesn't mean it's fodder for tourists though - this is a real Londoners knowing the best spot in London pub.

The Faltering Fullback has been voted one of the top 10 London pubs by Time Out, one of the top 20 by The Telegraph and has been said to have "London's best beer garden" by Londonist.

The traditional Irish pub has a garden split into multiple different areas on higher and lower floors, each with their own distinctive name.

One of the highest, for example, is the Crow's Nest - which has some very in demand seating due to its views - and another is a triangular spot of three tables named Bermuda. I shouldn't need to explain those ones to you.

Staff scale up and down serving a massive array of beers and drinks, with whole jugs of certain tap beers available. If you're the type of person who likes Beavertown or Blue Moon beers, congrats, because you can buy a whole pitcher to avoid the annoying pint refilling process.

It's also a bit of a find when it comes to pints of Guinness too. Even the Guinness aficionado Ian Ryan, who runs Shit London Guinness and Beautiful Pints, is a die hard fan boy.

He told MyLondon: "The Fullback is well known across London for its incredible beer garden and its excellent Guinness. With all the greenery knocking about the back you’d feel like you’re getting a bit of nature into you, blissfully ignoring the fact that you’re just around the corner from Finsbury Park station.

The only drawback of the Fullback is how popular it is, often making it hard to get a seat at all. “Sometimes you’d be walking up and down the wooden stairs at the back looking at tables and tables of merry punters drinking pints with no space in sight for you,” Ian said.

“You’d end up having to go drink a shit pint around the corner instead with a heart full of sadness and shame that you didn’t arrive earlier."
